In Japan's consumer society products must be trendy to make the store shelves. Japanese snacks are no exception. A snack may be in every convenience store in the country one month and the next virtually disappear. Only a select few snacks have survived over the years. These are the best of the best. Many of these snacks have had countless variations over the years to keep buyers interested.

Below are the top 33 classic Japanese snacks. Everybody in Japan knows these snacks and many people feel nostalgic about them. They are ranked in order of their fame:
