The deer of Nara (like any wild animal that are fed by tourists) can be persistent. They tend to be most persistent around the weak and the young.
Some of the deer warning signs are funny. The big red letters say "Danger!".
This kid is using a stick to defend himself.
Deer swarm handicap kids.
Deer attacks car.
So next time you're in Nara — watch out for the deer. They're watching you.
But Seriously ...
The deer of Nara (however persistent) aren't very dangerous. The most dangerous thing is getting between a mother and her fawn. The deer are considered heavenly animals protecting the city of Nara. Many of the deer have learned to bow in response to a bow from a human.
