posted by Mari, Japan Talk, November 10, 2012

Possibly the last photo taken from space of Japan before the March 11, 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami.

japan before the quake

The photo was taken by NASA's Aqua satellite at 1:05 p.m. local time. The earthquake struck at 2:46 p.m. The photo shows a giant cloud that's almost perfectly shaped like Japan itself.
