Nakamise-dori

posted by John Spacey, Japan Talk, May 16, 2012

Nakamise-dori (仲見世通り) is the best place in Tokyo to buy souvenirs. It's a 250 meter (800 foot) street that leads to Tokyo's oldest (and most visited) temple: Senso-ji.

There are around 90 shops on the street that sell snacks and souvenirs to the throngs of domestic and international tourists who visit the area.

For a few days in December, the street sells traditional New Years items to Tokyo people (Tori No Ichi Fair). This resembles the Christmas markets of Europe.

I have started to become very dedicated in learning Japanese. I would like to know a good majority of the language, for my goal is to be in Japan for school. I would like to meet good people from there or who know a lot about Japan. ^_^
