Summer Sonic is a large 2 (or 3) day rock festival held concurrently in Chiba (near Tokyo) and Osaka each summer (August).

The festival attracts top international and Japanese artists. Normally, artists play one day in Chiba and the next in Osaka (or vice versa). The Chiba venue is Marine Stadium & Makuhari Messe. In Osaka, the Summer Sonic is held at Maishima Sports Island.
