Tokyo Motor Show

posted by John Spacey, Japan Talk, February 09, 2012

The Tokyo Motor Show has been held every two years since 1954.

Japan has a massive auto industry. Of the World's 10 biggest car companies — 6 are Japanese. The Tokyo Motor Show is considered one of the Worlds five most important car shows along with with Detroit, Geneva, Frankfurt and Paris. The focus of the Tokyo Motor Show is concept cars. It's popular with press from around the globe.

The reaction of the press is carefully watched by Japan's big automakers. A good reaction at the Tokyo Motor Show can help a new model get approved for production.

Many people are attracted to the show for the female models who present the cars. These models are commonly referred to as booth babes or race queens.
