Japanese or Dub? Which do you prefer? Chaaa!
I for one love to watch certain anime in its original Japanese, but some anime I just have to watch in English dub
So of the two, which do you prefer? Japanese or Dub? -dances- lol

Dub or Sub
Woah, someone bold enough to push the subject. Some people who profess to be hardcore "otaku" and lack sufficient nutrient intake cause they live on a pop-culture diet of pocky and miso puddy bars will defiantly rule out any dub as being garbage. I though like what i like. In most cases american dubs are absolute garbage as the voice actors sound like they are reading a speech instead of ACTING out a real life situation however there are a few series i can't watch without them being dubbed. I really like the dubbed version of Evangelion and Spirited Away. Some of the really old stuff like the Street Fighter Animated movie and Lain all had really good dubbing. Now a days though it is near impossible to find any good dubbing. I blame Funmation.

Dubs are boring
I'm not keen on dubs because with Japanese, it helps you learn and I think it normally sounds better anyway :D

Japanese Usually
I usually prefer the original over the dub. One dub I thoroughly enjoyed was Cromartie High. Oh and another was Berserk. some are well done but many dubs have a tendency to sound really...off.

dub... ewww
So far I haven't found many dubbed animes that didn't sound like cheap telemarketers talking similar to "Oh Sharon, isn't this new improved toaster just marvelous!". It makes my skin crawl. I ALWAYS get the original sound with English subs, if there is none I skip episodes. I believe that there is a great amount of anime fans, who hate the half-assed dubs just as much and the media companies are just hurting their own profits by not distributing the originals to other countries, because that way people HAVE to pirate/stream to get something worthwhile. Not even the DVDs have the Japanese most of the time </rant> ;)

What are dub's ? . . ..

sub
I love mexican voice acting so i really love to watch anime in my language if I can but i prefer sub if its not in my language yet.

Depends...
It depends on which particular anime I am watching. Ranma 1/2 and Trigun both have good dubbing. Urusei Yatsura, however, has the worst I've ever seen; I definately watch that in Japanese.
|
|
well
I like to hear it in its original language because with English they change the voices and it doesn't make sense...the voice is suppose to be cute but they change it to scary wtf....

...
Japanese for me!!! just like Warfisted English dub sounds terrible and they add stuff that wasn't in the original some times. and it just doesn't sound right
i tried watching naruto in English, after watching it in Japanese for awhile and it just isn't the same anymore. but i did watch it in English at first i switched to Japanese for obvious reasons. lol

dubs usually stink
Always subbed. The dubbed voices almost always never match the characters personality and just kills the feeling of the anime. eww eww dubbed
|
|
It's all in the acting.
To be frank, if American voice actors actually put effort on the series to be "dubbed". I would say that American dubs would be the same as the Japanese dubs. But since the American voice actors are really not doing that much effort and have the mindset: "Oh, I get paid for whatever I do! I'll do half-assed acting!", I'd go for the original since the voice actors seem to put emotions in it.

Depends on the effort.
If American voice actors are actually willing to put some real effort on their jobs, it would probably on-par with the original. But with the actors' mindset of: " I get paid high even if I do a half-assed job!", the American voice actors don't compare to what seems to be the original version where the voice actors are being the character and putting actual emotions to it.

Dubbed ... except ...
I would rather watch anime raw and understand nothing than watch it dubbed. There is, however, an exception to this rule. Magikano. The voice acting in Japanese is over all good, except the main male character ... every time he opened his little mouth I wanted to beat him with my shoe. The anime itself was funny as heck, but you gotta watch it in English to appreciate it. Luckily it's a LOT easier to find dubbed than it is to find it subbed :) There are a couple animes where I've been forced, for one reason or another to watch a season in dubbed only or a couple episodes dubbed, and they were not bad. El Hazard has great voice acting, Hand Maid May as well, though this is not surprising since at least 3 voices I know of were also voice actors in El Hazard. Death Note is fine either way, as is Bleach. Now, the WORST anime voice acting I have EVER heard dubbed is Sister Princess ... I own the box set collection and it's a sweet lil anime ... when it's subbed. For the heck of it, one day, I watched the final episode in English. I laughed, I cried, I cringed ... it was so horrible! Mimi's voice was OMG BAD! I challenge all of you to go watch an episode of this anime dubbed .. you'll seriously think twice about pressing the "dubbed" button on another anime ... just because you'll fear it'll end up like this lol
