most popular manga in japan

I am thinking about giving manga a try now that I can mostly read Japanese. What are the most popular / or recommended series in Japan? I know Naruto is really popular in the West. What about in Japan? I would like something Action related that is new / popular / cool.

I know that Naruto and Bleach are popular but I like very much Vampire Knight, Chrono Crusade, Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Alchemist. And I'll read Soul Eater soon. Now I can say just that the story sounds pretty cool.

Bleach is popular.. but many people thinks its to americanized.
death note is the "emo" anime, at least to most 14 year olds!
you should look up some of these though!:

naruto and one piece

right now, i think that the most popular anime in japan presently is one piece with its nice fight scenes, nice storyline and nice drawings. but although all of that i prefer naruto, cuz the fights are more real, the storyline is more enthousiastic and the characters are really cool

I Reccomend...

Some of my favourites are, Naruto, Death Note, Inuyasha and a bunch of Shojo mangas. I would reccomend either Naruto or Inuyasha. Keep in mind that I live in Canada not in Japan though. =^_^=

Recommendation

If anyone is looking for an amazing new action anime, go for Soul Eater!! \(^_^)/
It is available in Manga as well.
I would also recommend the manga Tokyo Crazy Paradise.

Arigato

Most popular manga is Slam Dunk overall. But now its Onepiece first then Naruto. I'm a Onepiece head and hate arguing with narutoheads because most of them dont even read onepiece and understand everything. Its annoying.
